Jet, Russia (Tumbled)

Jet is opaque black. It is fossilised remains of decaying wood, so very light in weight, and has been used since the Bronze Age to make beads and other jewellery. The Romans mined jet extensively, and jet was at the peak of its popularity in the mid-19th century. it is also referred to as Witches Amber.
