The Crystal People is a specialist online crystal shop stocking high-quality, ethically sourced sacred items and treasures, based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand.
Deryn and Glen are the mother and son duo behind The Crystal People. Supported by an incredible team, they’ve been consciously sourcing carefully selected crystals and other treasures since 1994. From a modest table of crystals and minerals at crystal shows and markets, the business has grown to become a favourite online offering for many, with one of the most extensive ranges of crystals and minerals in New Zealand, including some very rare pieces.
It’s been our dream from the beginning to make crystals accessible to everyone and for almost 30 years we’ve been continuing this journey. We’ve traveled across the world to not only source amazing treasures, but to really come to understand the places they come from; we believe provenance is a fundamental part of the conversation around ethical sourcing. We’ve personally been to the mines, we’ve followed the supply chains, we’ve met and supported the workers and their families in communities around the world. Wherever possible we aim to source products from nearby the mines, so profits are kept local. As an industry, we can always do better; being conscious of this and taking active steps to improve the lives of the people behind the stones is at the core of our ethos as a business.
Our journey has been an awakening of sorts, as we continue to learn in and about this ever changing and evolving world of crystals. We have a deep appreciation for the diversity of thoughts and understandings around crystals and we enjoy engaging in conversations with our customers, on any and all levels.
