Garnet, Spessartine (Crystal)

Spessartine (or Spessartite) Garnet is a fiery sunny-orange colour, due to an iron content. It has a hardness of 7.5, making it popular for polishing, and has a high refractive index. It is seldom found in gem quality, usually being partly, or wholly opaque. These stones vibrate at a very high rate.
