These fossil deposits were first mentioned by the Greek historian Herodotus (c. 484–c. 425 BC) who said there were “fish in the stones”.
Country of Origin: Sannine Formation near Hjoula, Hakel, Lebanon
Size:  The shrimp measures 55mm x 35mm, while the matrix plate it is on is 65mm x 60mm
Species: Carpopenaeus callirostris
Age: Upper Cretaceous period, approximately 94–100 million years old.
