Galena, and Chalcopyrite (Mineral)

This is a natural chunk of Galena crystals, with bright gold chalcopyrite. Galena is the primary ore of lead, while chalcopyrite is the principal ore of copper, so is very heavy for its size. They are popular in mineral collecting due to the high contrast between the dull-to-bright silver cubes of galena and the bright, brassy, often iridescent luster of chalcopyrite. Lead is toxic, however, in this crystal form there is no lead dust present so galena can be handled safely.
