This ancient fossil coral is approximately 20 million years old. It formed from coral reefs that were thrust into mountains by tectonic activity and then mineralised, primarily with silica, iron, and manganese, which replaced the original organic material. This process creates unique stones that retain the intricate patterns of the original coral.
