Ammonite, Calcified (3) (Fossil)

This is an interesting specimen as Calcite has replaced the Aragonite, the mineral making up the shell of the Ammonite, leaving the original shape. The sedimentary matrix has been shaped so that the whole piece can stand alone as a specimen.

Size: The ammonite is 20mm x 17mm, while the whole piece is 43mm x 37mm
Species: Most likely to be Promicroceras
Age: Lower Jurassic
